こんなところに現役の50系客車が！
去年の秋に真岡鐵道へ行ってきました。
まだ全線乗ったことが無かった、つくばエキスプレスに乗ろうと思い立ち、そこまで行くのなら、関東鉄道常総線、真岡鐵道へも乗ろうという事で行ってきました。
秋葉原〜つくば〜守谷と列車を乗り継ぎつつ、真岡鐵道の始発駅下館駅まで行き、まずは終点の茂木までレールバスに乗りました。
新型車両で早くて快適な乗り心地です。
そして、茂木駅へ着き、折り返しはSL列車の運行日でもあり、空席もあるため乗ってみる事にしました。

ターンテーブルにより、蒸気機関車の方向転換を済まし、乗車ホームへ移動するところです。

しっかり忘れてましたが使用される客車は、色こそあの頃と変わっているものの、客車は八戸でも走っていた50系客車(JR東日本から譲渡)なんです。
50系客車の車内
車内は昔とほとんど変わらず、4人用向かい合わせのボックス席。

デッキ付近を見ると、セミクロスシート(4人ボックス席＋ロングシート)で吊り革も付いている様子がわかります。
真岡鐵道
終点の下館駅へ着き、真岡駅まで戻ってきた時の様子です。
実はこのSL列車、通常はSLが先頭に立ち、最後部にはディーゼル機関車(DE10)が付いています。
(通称：プッシュプル列車)
そのため、終点到着後の真岡行きは機関車を付け替えずにディーゼル機関車が牽引する客車列車へなります。

・折り返し列車(回送を兼ねる)
(←進行方向 ディーゼル機関車＋客車＋SL)
一日乗り放題の乗車券だった事もあり、もちろん折り返しの真岡行きにも乗りました！
こちらは本来レールバスで足りる程しか乗っていないため、乗客も多くは無くのんびりした雰囲気の車内でした。
八戸線にも以前は八戸(一戸始発だったような？)〜鮫間で同じ車両(50系客車＋ディーゼル機関車)の客車列車が走っていました。
今ではこの列車もSL列車以上に貴重な存在です。
意外なところで客車列車に乗る事ができ楽しい一日でした。
またSLよりもこの折り返し列車に乗りに行きたいと思っています。

関東でもと近くて遠い場所へ行かれたのですね。
お疲れさまです。
真岡鉄道にSLが走っているのは知ってましたが、
客車が50系なのですね。
びっくりです。12系あたりだと想像してました。
北総線や真岡鉄道は厳しい経営状況だと思います。
でも一日乗車券等で少しでも観光客を呼び戻そうとしている姿勢はすばらしいです。
私も関東に住んでいながら両鉄道に乗った事がありません。
ちょっと尻込みしてしまいます。
私的には距離が中途半端なんですよね。
勝手な言い分ですが。
でも50系に会いに行こうかと考えてしまいました。

遺跡さん、こんばんは。
関東でも気になる鉄道は結構あり、小湊鉄道にも乗ってみたいと思いつつ、休みの日に早起きできず行けずじまいなんです。
それに、比較的に近いといつでも行けるという感覚があり、なかなか乗れないもんです。
南部縦貫鉄道や十鉄電車も初めて乗ったのは八戸を離れてからでしたし(汗)
なので、この日はたまたま仕事で金曜に泊まりだったもので(サーバ関係なんです)、早朝に仕事が終わり直行したので実現したんです(笑)
50系客車を使用している事を忘れていたため、余計に懐かしさと驚きがありましたよ。
特に、真岡鉄道の車両は予算の関係なのか車内はJR時代のままなので、結果的にあの頃の東北本線を感じさせる事がポイントです。
そういえば、あのときは関鉄と真岡鉄道共通の一日乗車券でした。
青森県の私鉄(第三セクター含む)では一日乗車券はあまり出てないと思いますが、まずは一度乗ってみるきっかけになるのでもっと発売してもらいたいもんです。
遺跡さんとこのブログは、たしかにツアーバスのバス情報が充実度では相当なものですし、楽しみに読ませてもらっています！
意外とツアーバスの細かい情報は他では取り上げられていないので、貴重なブログサイトだと思いますよ。
